The following information are valid for all domains that are managed by ICANN. This includes all new TLDs, as well as: .COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO, .BIZ, .NAME, .TEL, .MOBI, .ASIA, .PRO. .AREO,. JOBS, .TRAVEL, .XXX.
Since the point in time where domains are released, depends on different factors, we suggest taking a look at the following graphic by the registry:
http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/gtld-lifecycle.htm
With expiration of a domain (EXPIRE), the domain status switches to “Auto-Renew Grace Period”. This is a timespan between 0 and 45 days. After that, the domain switches into the so called “Grace Redemption Period”. This begins with the “DELETE SUCCESSFUL” message, visible in the Domainlog. The “Grace Redemption Period” is 30 days. After further 5 days of “Pending Delete”, the domain will be made free for registration by the registry.
If you delete a domain manually in your customer area and do not leave it to “Expire”, it will skip the “Auto-Renew Grace Period” and go directly into the “Grace Redemption Period”, while the message “DELETE SUCCESSFUL” will be visible in the Domainlog. Also the “Grace Redemption Period” is 30 days. After further 5 days of “Pending Delete”, the domain will be made free for registration by the registry.
With aid of this information you could calculate the release time of your domain individually.
The current status of the domain can be obtained through a whois lookup.
