How can I update multiple domains at once (Bulk action) ?

If you want to make changes for several domains at once, e.g. an update of the name servers or the domain contacts, you have 2 options.

The first option is the menu item Bulk action. If you want to update many domains (from about 10 pieces) at once, this is the suitable variant.

The second option is to select several domains via the domain list and start a Bulk action from there. This variant is rather worthwhile with a small number of domains.

Both variants are explained below:

Bulk action

The menu item Bulk action offers the advantage that a larger number of domains can be conveniently inserted into the text field using copy & paste, e.g. from a CSV file that you have previously exported from the domain list.

  1. Click on Bulk action in the left side menu.

  2. Enter the domains you want to update in the input field (1 domain per line).
Tip: Export a CSV file from the domain list to easily copy & paste many domains at once.

  3. Use the drop-down menu to select the action you want to perform for the domains in question.

  4. The following actions are possible as a mass action:

    • Registration: Register multiple domains at once.
    Domain transfer: Transfer multiple domains.
Update: Change owner data or nameserver settings for multiple domains.
Renewal: Manual renewal for multiple domains.
Renewal mode: Change the renewal option for multiple domains at once.
Push: Here you can trigger a push for multiple domains at the same time, if it is supported by the domain extension.
Delete: Delete multiple domains in one operation.
Tagging: Manage the keywords (tags) added to your domains.

⚠ Some of the mentioned actions (e.g. updates, registrations, transfers, renewals) are performed via the shopping cart. Since the shopping cart has to process many actions at once, there may be time delays. The more domains are added to the shopping cart, the longer the waiting time can be. We ask for some patience in case of a large number of domains.

➡ Continuing here with the example of the action Update.

  5. Click the button  to continue.
  6. You will then see a tabular overview of the domains that could be added to the shopping cart. It may be that a domain status (e.g. DELETE INITIATED) prevents the addition to the shopping cart.
  7. Reload the website to update the shopping cart and then switch to the shopping cart by clicking on the shopping cart icon in the upper right corner.

  8. For the Bulk update, you can now make the desired settings globally for all domains in the shopping cart. If changes are to be made only for individual items, you can make them via the relevant tabs (1) - it is not necessary to set all settings.
For example, you can change only the Domain owner contact for the listed domains. In the screenshot below, you can see in the overview that no changes have been made  yet and the domains currently still have different settings. After you have made global settings, you can still change settings for individual domains if necessary by displaying and editing the individual settings of the domain in the respective line via the Edit button.

  9. Finally, start the Bulk update by clicking on Execute order (2).

Bulk action through the domain list

It is also possible to select multiple domains for a Bulk action via the domain list. This method is especially suitable if only a small selection of domains is to be updated together.

  1. To select domains contained in the domain list click the checkbox in the top line of the domain list.

  2. In the popup menu that appears, you have the option to select all domains contained in the domain list or only the domains that belong to the currently displayed page. You can also deselect the domains you have selected.

  3. You also have the option to select individual domains in the domain list by setting the checkmarks (1).
  4. Click the gear icon at the bottom right to start the Bulk action for the selected domains (2).

  5. In the popup menu that appears, you can select the desired action.

  6. An overview is then displayed of which domains will be added to the shopping cart for the Bulk update. If you are satisfied with the selection, confirm by clicking the Add to cart button.

  7. After that you will see an overview of which domains were successfully added to the shopping cart. Continue by clicking on the Go to cart button.
